RM80, 000 was channeled to flood victims

The fate of 245 victims of flash floods in Gugusan Manjoi received the attention of Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah on MOnday morning, who contributed aid worth RM80, 000 in the hall of the Sekolah Agama Rakyat (SAR) Taufiqiah, Kampung Tengku Hussin, near Ipoh today.

Each victim received RM300 cash to ease their burden of daily expenses and to buy household goods which have been damaged by the floods. On Monday, more than 200 people from around Gugusan Manjoi had been transferred to the flood relief centers after their homes were flooded as deep as 0.5 to 1 meter as a result of heavy rains which fell early this morning.

Among the affected areas are Kampung Manjoi Lama, Kampung Datuk Ahmad Said Tambahan 3, Taman Muhibbah, Lim Garden and Kampung Sungai Terap, near Batu Gajah.

Due to the strong current, a concrete bridge near the Wing Onn Garden had collapsed and several schools were closed that morning, including SK Sungai Pari dan SK Puteri, near Buntong.
