IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) will take over the management of the Manjoi mini stadium in Jalan Tapah, here after the facility was abandoned without any maintenance, since almost 10 years ago.

The gazetted takeover of the Kinta District and Land Office was approved by Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir yesterday after seeing the needs of the facility be redeveloped for residents.

According to him, as the largest Malay village in the country, Gugusan Manjoi, which has over 4,500 homes should have complete facilities including recreational and sports.

"The location around the area itself is strategic, besides we are also planning to build a public recreational park, so we do not want the existing facilities at this mini stadium to be idle.

"Let MBI take over, they have the capabilities and expertise to manage and take care of this area," he said.
